The company’s new U.K. based distribution warehouse was required to provide for the fast, efficient, turn round of a wide variety of continental container and domestic articulated trailer vehicles.

The proposed scheme had to handle up to 60 loads per day, with an anticipated daily thro-put of 1,500 tonnes. The loading bay design brief specified; fork truck pallet handling, constant internal air temperature, prevention of damage to trailers and buildings.

All had to be commensurate with safe-reliable, practical operation and supported by a maintenance scheme.

A SAXON installed integrated loading bay system, comprising 1-15 identical units, incorporating Model Type:- SHD-107 10,000kg capacity Heavy Duty dock levellers, supplied complete with one piece steel casting in tray to simplify builders work.

The Type:- S.T.S. flap type dock shelters provide total weather protection for the differing trailers and their collapsible design enclosure, together with the vehicle alignment guides reduced accidental damage. Insulated sectional doors were also included in the package.

The site has operated successfully since 1990 and is well maintained.
