CASE STUDY NO. 155

REF: S.L.1.5-850-1600/1050

PAPER COATING PROCESS EQUIPMENT

The previous roll loading operation was carried out by gantry supported manually operated crane. This arrangement was both space and time consuming, and required two men to carry out the roll loading operation.

Minimal clearance between roll and machine sides made lifting the heavy rolls a precise operation with possible damage to the product proving very expensive.

The Lift Table now makes the lifting and handling process a one man, operation and comes from the ‘Saxon’ standard range of Lift Table, and is fitted with peripheral safety trip bar in addition to the galvanised steel mesh on all four sides of the platform.

Removable ‘angled’ roll restraints are positioned prior to and during the loading, elevating operation. Control of the Lift Table is by the adjacent constant pressure control station.

The illustrated loading operation is repeated in reverse at the off loading end of this paper coating operation whereby the finished, coated rolls are lowered by a Saxon Lift Table, and then despatched to a receiving area.
